Expedition Cruise Operators
To become a member of the Expedition Cruise Network (ECN), expedition cruise operators must meet the following criteria:
They must offer cruise-style holidays onboard a ship or boat with a demonstrable emphasis on exploration. This emphasis on exploration can be evidenced by:
-
Being intrinsic to the destinations served (e.g. Antarctica, Galapagos, etc.);
-
The availability of an onboard expedition team;
-
Custom-designed shore activities that explore lesser-known aspects of other more-conventional destinations;
-
Catering for special, often scientific, interests of cruise passengers;
The size of the ships must not exceed more than 500 passengers and/or the operator must not be heavily restricted in their ability to land clients in the destinations they visit due to the size of their ships. There is no minimum guest-capacity limit to join the ECN.
Associates
We also welcome non-cruise operators to the ECN as associate members.
To become an associate member, companies must be able to show how they support and/or have a commercial interest in the expedition cruise industry. Associate members may include:
-
Media partners.
-
Tourism boards.
-
Other associations involved in other relevant aspects of the industry.
-
Companies in other sectors that are linked to the industry, e.g. outdoors apparel brands.
